[Micronet] Classes on MS Active Directory, Server, etc.?

Eric Fong
Hi all:

I need to update and increase my skill set.  Can anyone recommend
locations/schools that are hopefully local that would teach these?  Thanks.

We have used QuickStart (see <http://www.quickstart.com/>) and LearnIt
(see <http://www.learnit.com/>).  I think the LearnIt instructors are
better, and it is also usually cheaper.

You can also use the e-learning center on Blu, it has many courses for IT professionals, including certification-related courses. I can't say how good they are, but they are free.

Several companies offer UC staff discounts. I've listed a starter set on the Calpact Website

http://hrweb.berkeley.edu/learning/computer-classes/calpact

in the fee-based Training section

LearnIT offers 5% -25% off

Quickstart offers 15%- 50% off.

You can also find a thousands of on-line books and self-paced classes through E-Learn

Description: cid:image001.png@01CC829C.5DB19550

Or Safari

Description: cid:image002.png@01CC829C.C2B8C5E0

I also looked behind the scenes in the UCB Learning center and it appears there are a number of courses 34 to be exact that have to do with active directory – I’m in the process of surfacing those now – at least 3 are public now – more to come.

Hopefully this helps to get you started.

Eric,

The IST Windows Team has purchased a year subscription to Microsoft's IT Academy.  With this subscription we can grant any Faculty, Staff or Student access to the available E-Learning modules provided with our subscription.

To see the modules available go to https://calshare.berkeley.edu/sites/platformservices/elearning/Wiki%20Pages/Home.aspx.  This page does require CalNet Authentication,  and access to the modules requires a Microsoft Live ID.

Once you get to our request page select Windows Server 2008 as the product to see the courses that are available for Active Directory and Windows Server 2008.  If you need more information on the courses that are listed, I find a quick Google or Bing search on the course number the fastest way to find more information on them.

Michael

Jeff Anderson-Lee
Hmm. It doesn't use the standard Calnet Auth login page.  Should we
trust it?
