[Micronet] Safari Online access

Yu-Hung Lin
Hi, does anyone know if UCB still has access to the online O'Reilly
books from Safari online? I used to just be able to go to
http://my.safaribooksonline.com/ and obtain instant access since it
detects that I'm entering in from campus. Is there a new portal we have
enter through? Thanks in advance.

The UC Berkeley Library's web listing for this service shows the URL

   http://www.uclibs.org/PID/33109

but that translates to what Bill A. just posted.

Berkeley has access to all kinds of books through E-Learn - Including the O'Reilly Series, The Bible Series, The Dummies Series, etc.  I ran a search on Safari and came up with 700+ titles

E-Learn also has a bunch of  It certifications programs

Check it out.

Does anyone know if it's possible to export these books to epub or
other format readable on external devices like tablets or phones? I
don't see an option for it, just wanted to make sure I'm not missing
something.

Thanks,

I found one mention of an iPad app in beta:
http://distlib.blogs.com/distlib/2010/08/safaribooks-online-to-support-institutional-subscriptions-later-this-year.html

There's no relevant search results on the Proquest site mentioning
iPad or iPhone.

I know that information wants to be free and all that, but I assume
that we pay some sort of licensing fee for access to this material?

Realistically, I suspect any dump format would be required to include
some sort of DRM.

Yep, you're right. Which is probably related to why they're creating a
dedicated iPad app (according to the link Vic provided) rather than
providing download links.
