[Micronet] web access review

Lucy Greco
Hello:
In the next few months   federal  laws will be upgraded to include web
sites and applications in the Americans with disabilities  act. If you are
interested in  knowing if your site or  application will  pass the access
test please contact me off list about getting a web access review of your
project.   Also feel free to contact me about any questions you have about
how best to start any web project to include web access principles and
standards. Thanks Lucy

Hopefully the new laws will knock out the worst Flash-infested sites
that are barely accessible even to persons without disability.

Re: [Micronet] web access review

Hi Lucy,
It would be helpful to know if the UC Berkeley Website templates at
http://www.berkeley.edu/webstyle/ will pass the access test.   If they
are not, it would be helpful if they could be modified slightly so that
it was easy to update sites that use the templates.

I wonder if BearBuy, CalTime and the Connexxus (for travel) will pass
the access test.

The website templates at berkeley.edu/webstyle/ got a thumbs-up in a web access review many years ago when they were first released, and have not changed significantly since then. They may not be cutting-edge, or responsive, or mobile-aware, but they are accessible.

Re: [Micronet] web access review

Lucy Greco

Hello:

Steve is write the  templates did pass muster when they were created. Users should know a few things when using them such as the fly out needs to also link to a page  that has all the same information as what is added when the fly out opens. Otherwise I think the templates do a very good job. I would like to see the   templates include a newer fly out technology but for now they work quite well. As for the others I have given feedback to call time and have  not looked at the rest. We will be  adding a look at staff used sites to the list of sites we will be reviewing in the formal web access process. We want  the web experience to be as good for every one as we can make it Lucy

Re: [Micronet] [Webnet] web access review

Hi Lucy, et al.,

Speaking of the current berkeley.edu website, we are currently asking for feedback on the page, as we're in the beginning stages of its redesign, so please feel free to respond to our short--very short--survey (not sure if it was set up to be accessible...): http://www.berkeley.edu/index.html.

Cheers,
Kathryn
